No sign-up
No sign-up, and the iPad, iPhone and Mac don't need the same Apple Account.
A pairing code, then approval on the Mac
The first time each device connects, you enter the 8-digit one-time pairing code shown on the Mac. A code works only once, expires, and stops working when you close the “Invite remote control” window. Then a request appears on the Mac:
- Allow once: allows a single connection.
- Always allow: this device can connect directly from now on, until you revoke it.
- Deny: the device can't connect.
When one Mac controls another, each direction is authorized separately.
Encrypted all the way
Picture, sound, keystrokes and clipboard are encrypted all the way.
What our servers do
During pairing, devices use the registration service to exchange network addresses and find each other. The registration service never handles the picture, sound or keystrokes. RemoScreen doesn't offer a public relay; to connect across networks you can deploy your own, and it only forwards encrypted data.
Revoking access
To stop a device from connecting, find it in RemoScreen Host on the Mac and choose “Delete and revoke access”. This revokes its access to the Mac and ends any connection in progress.
